Welcome to basic principles

The purpose of this blog is to share information on what I believe basic principles are. Because they are “basic” they are both simple and also universal. That means that they should be able to be used in any aspect of life, both in understanding any aspect of life and also in making any aspect of our life better. The main aspects of our life could be our relationships with family, friends, our job, our pastimes, the earth and ourselves. So a lot of what basic principles is about is relationships and how to make them as good as possible.

The thing about relationships is that they relate two or more things. In the above list I talked about relationships between ourselves and other people and ourselves and our jobs and our hobbies etc. The things that relationships connect I call ideas.

Why I use the word ideas is that they have some flexibility to them. Ideas can be real, and they can be living or inanimate. They can also be “yet to be made real” like the things we dream about. Our “ideal life” can be an idea. Initially its an idea we have in our heads but then we slowly, or quickly make it real and it becomes an actual idea. And whether the idea of our ideal life is in our head or we are actually making it real and living it, in both cases we can relate to the idea.

Say we have the idea in our head but we the way we think of it is “it’ll never happen,” or “I don’t have the money” then the idea that we are relating to is “not our idea life.” But if we think of it as if we are living it, then we are that much more likely to make it real or see how to make it real.

In this context, ideas sound a lot like affirmations, and indeed they are. They are another way of looking at affirmations or affirmations are another way of looking at ideas. The beauty of ideas is that there is less to think about. Instead of having a list of affirmations, we can choose instead to think about the ideas we want in our life, and also about the ideas we already have.

We can also think about the idea of what we are doing now.

The thing about ideas is that when we connect to them we cause change, and when ideas are in a relationship they change each other, and so really what basic principles is about is seeing change and creating it.

Another important quality that I will talk about in these pages is consciousness. Consciousness is that aspect of ourselves that we can use to become aware of ideas and relationships and change. Being conscious we can see the changes in the relationships we are a part of and the potential for change. And seeing that potential we can be the ones responsible for making that change real. That change we make real can be positive change or negative change, and that’s the thing about being conscious, we can choose the change we make real. But being conscious we also see the bigger picture and we know that any changes we make affect us all. And so my hope is that by helping people become more conscious the world we all share changes and becomes a better place for everyone.

Perfection is change.

I read somewhere that perfection is change, and in a society that changes at a faster pace than ever before it has become more important to embrace change rather than fear it, face the thrill of the unknown and enjoy the journey to a new destination than just focusing on the end destination. As they say, half the fun is getting there!
